THE RETREAT

Built in time every day to be in community with other artist caregivers. Includes set time for guided discussions, creative activities and lake jumps!
The weekend invites both you and your family to engage in creative PLAY! This is not a skills building workshop, but instead a chance to engage with the joy of learning something new! Think nature inspired cyanotypes, clay pinch pots, film photography! Geared slightly towards photography, but no pre-requisites! Any artists/creatives are more than welcome to join.
An expansive, quiet, tucked in nature location, meals made for you, an optional and flexible schedule to opt into whatever activities you’d like or take a nap in a hammock!

Most artist spaces are designed without the parent artist in mind. This retreat invites the two to co-exists. The flexibility is built in. Your family isn’t ready for mom to have a long weekend away, bring your family (partner, children and/or needed childcare support) along!

If a restorative solo trip feels exactly in the cards this year like it does for me! Come solo! If this is your plan reach out! I am setting up a carpool from Minneapolis with an extra day stay in Duluth/North Shore!

Note, the definition of family is expansive, whatever your support community looks like is welcome and included!

This Northwoods retreat is a ELCA Lutheran summer camp during the summer months, nestled in tall Norway pines and on Lake Vermillion. It includes trails for hiking, Waterfront, Campfire Rings, Gathering Spaces, Sauna and on-site Food Service, and of course beautiful photo backdrops.

There are a few different lodging options:

THE LODGE

Private Room or Shared Room options.

Note: There are 4 Queen size mattresses better suited for adults and a lot of bunk beds!

BAKK HOUSE

Private Room or Shared Room options

Rooms sleep up to 8 (but all twin bunk beds!). So will book for 2-3 adults, a private room, or a family room.

Note: You will have to bring along your own bedding (blankets/pillows). Truely Summer Camp vibes! I will work with you to figure out a space that is most comfortable! Most spaces are designed for youth, so happy to discuss best options including possibly bringing your own air mattress for better comfort if that works best!
